When Surterre Properties wanted to open its new escrow company, they turned to Sign Clemente.  The first thing we did was study the sign plan for their office park.  Orange County building signs are often governed by sign plans which restrict the type of sign a tenant may install.  We worked with the property owner, Irvine Company, to ensure that their Orange County building signs were in compliance.

More Than One Way to Make Orange County Building Signs

Most Orange County building signs are made one of two ways.  The non-illuminated variety are usually make of acrylic as a facing, and foam to provide depth.  As you look around at Orange County building signs, you will see this is usually the case.  This is a very economical way to make logos and letters. The illuminated variety are aluminum bodies with either acrylic faces for front lighting or aluminum faces for back lighting.  These are the most common types of Orange County building signs.

Blue Water Escrow’s sign is a notable exception.  These are stainless steel formed letters.  You will see the finer Orange County building signs made this way.  They are dimensional in that they are 2″ deep.  They are not solid stainless steel, but formed out of thick sheets of metal.  The stainless steel is brushed for a matte finish.  These letters make beautiful Orange County building signs.   Because they are stainless steel, and because of their rugged construction, they promise to be long-lasting and maintenance free.

How We Install These Orange County Building Signs

This type of building sign has studs that come out the back.  This makes it possible to stand the Orange County building signs off the wall 1/4″.  Standing letters off the wall provide for even more depth and dimension.  This requires us to drill into the concrete wall, which is common, to insert the studs with adhesive.  It makes for secure letters and outdoor signs.

More Orange County Building Signs

Another example of great looking outdoor signs is that of a company in San Clemente called Kelpac.

Another example of formed letters

Another example of formed letters

Kelpac was acquired by PPG industries.  They engaged in a re-branding effort and that involved their Orange County building signs.  What you see in the pic are formed letters like Blue Water Escrow except these are made of aluminum.  The logo is digitally printed and applied to the face.  These Orange County building signs really stand out!  They too were installed with studs drilled into the concrete wall. Kelpac can expect their signs to last and look great for years to come.

Don’t Scrimp on Orange County Building Signs

Studies by the Small Business Administration and others consistently show that outdoor signs are the best marketing investment you can make.  People often try to save money on their Orange County business signs.  We at Sign Clemente help you avoid unnecessary costs, but cheap signs that fade and disintegrate send a bad message to your public.  We call these “signs you can’t afford” because they are almost better than no signs at all.

Orange County Signs Get Creative

When the new owners of Pet Treasures in San Clemente wanted exposure on their busy street, who did they call for Orange County signs?   Sign Clemente of course!  They wanted something creative, something that conveyed what they do, which is cater to dog fanciers.  This latest of our Orange County signs features a sign shaped like a dog bone.  When people drive by and see a street full of Orange County signs, they can’t help but notice this one.  See more Orange County building signs here.

How Orange County Signs are Made

This unique version of our Orange County Signs is basically an aluminum cabinet.  The back has rows of white LEDs which light up the sign at night.  The face is translucent acrylic with translucent graphics which announce the name of their store: Pet Treasures.   Only five years ago, this sign would have been lit with neon.  The neon would be formed into a grid pattern to fill the cabinet with light to comprise one of our Orange County signs.  Neon is always a great source of light.  The problem is that neon is very fragile over time and requires servicing after a few years.  These Orange County signs covert house power into an average of 12,000 volts so they use lots of power.   LEDs on the other hand, are 12 volt.  They use less than 10% of the power required by neon, and last years without servicing.   Now you can invest in Orange County signs lit by LEDs for the same price as what neon used to cost.  Plus you save on power and installing Orange County signs with LEDs is less labor-intensive.

You and Orange County Signs

Providing great-looking Orange County signs is our business.   This year marks our tenth year of creating and installing eye catching Orange County signs for businesses that want to attract new customers, stamp a brand in the minds of their customers and stand out from the many messages that bombard us all.

A creatively designed sign, one that captures what you are all about, is one of the best marketing decisons you can make.  Orange County signs tell the customer or prospect that you are in business for the long term.  It shows them where you are so you can find them easily.  It brands you, sets a tone, defines your image.  Study after study shows that dollar for dollar, your Orange County signs is the best investment you can make for attracting business.Graphics catch the eyes of passers by.

Don’t Cut Corners on Orange County Signs

What do the big box stores like Good Guys and Staples have in common?  They all invest in the largest signs that their respective municipalities allow.  Orange County signs like the IKEA sign off the 405 attest to this.  Orange County signs is not the place to cut corners.  Faded acryic, rusty metal, lighted letters that are burned out, these are all signs of neglect which reflect badly on your business.  These are Orange County signs that do you a disservice.  Cheap materials only hurt you in the long run.

But you don’t have to be concerned with Sign Clemente’s Orange County signs.  We use no-rust aluminum.  Our enamels are industrial grade.  The vinyls we use are of the high performance variety meaning that they are the longest lasting available.  We don’t want to put our Orange County signs out in the world to reflect badly on you or us!

Signs Orange County: FitzPatrick [+] Prince

New Signs Orange County Edition

The firm of Fitzpatrick [+] Prince  needed a new sign for its new Irvine headquarters: so Sign Clemente answered their need for signs orange county.  The company is in the business of marketing high-end homes through image advertising, primarily using video and voice over.  The business park in which they reside has very strict guidelines for the signage, so we had to work a great deal of back and forth with the property’s design person.   The customer had very precise needs of their own for this of signs Orange County.

Signs Orange County: The Description

These letters are pegged off the wall about 1″ and are 5″ deep, so when you are looking at signs Orange County you see dimension.   The letters have white faces that contract nicely with the building and offer a clean, contemporary look with their silver edges (called returns).  LEDs offer huge advantages over neon, which used to be the illumination of choice.  But now most signs orange county use LEDs because they last much longer and comsume about 10% of the power that neon did.

The bodies of the letters are all aluminum, the preference for signs orange county, because they never rust.   Old letters will often have rust streaks running down the wall, but you will never see that from our Sign Clemente letters.

The picture to the right shows the newly installed building sign and the neck of the 45′ boom lift we used.

Signs Orange County: The Result

What the customer now has is a sign that represents their corporate look and feel.    Plus their signage guides you to your destination which means that they are now easy to find in their business park.  Their signage, which includes a lobby sign that we did for them, shows a sense of permanence.  Hence, a great looking sign addition to signs Orange County!

Making of Orange County Signs

Monument Sign is One of Our Latest Orange County Signs

orange county signs Going on our ninth year, Sign Clemente has finished one of the newest of Orange County signs: a new monument for the Lake Forest Business Center.  We love creating a new design, especially when it is tailored to the archetectural setting.  In this case it was the Lake Forest Business Center.   The owners’ association selected Sign Clemente for its design work and quality workmanship.  You can see  and read about our monuments here and here.

We designed in a monument that had lots of function- a quality of our Orange County Signs.   They wanted it to be very visible, so a newcomer would recognize it immediately.   It had to include the name of the center, the word “Directory” so the the onlooker would recognize its function, and a map that was readible and would help people find their destination.

Manufacturing Orange County Signs

003
There are a few things we at Sign Clemente never want to hear- that a sign did not last for the years it was intended to last, and that one of our seasonal wind storm took out one of our Orange County Signs.   So we build a monument like this one extra-tough because of its size.  As you can see in the pic, it is made of heavy-gauge aluminum.  This one of Orange County Signs also has an interior frame, which reinforces the structure.   The letters are enameled acrylic and solid.  The enamel is the same type used on autos, so you know it will last.  The directory is a digital print.   The customer only had a blurry jpeg image, but we were able to convert it to a usable format using design software.  The face is laminated and mounted to 3/4″ painted PVC and mounted to the surface of the monument.

Installing Orange County Signs

Blog Photo 2
Sign Clemente believes that proper installation of Orange County Signs is as important as using the right materials and coatings.   In this case, we poured a concrete base, or pad, for the monument structure to mount.   Then we bolted the structure down with six 1/2″ bolts from the inside.  The bolts lag into the concrete for a firm hold.  The monument sign can be opened from the back in case the structure needs to be serviced for some reason.

We are proud of our Orange County signs.   Over the course of our business, we have created and installed litterally thousands of signs and we can do the same for you.   We have gone back and looked at many of our signs that have been up and in the sun since our early days, and they are still looking great.

Latest of Anaheim Signs: Spotlight on del sol

Preparing the surface for the del sol sign

The Making of Anaheim Signs

The del Sol inn is across the street from Disneyland; when they needed their Anaheim signs rebuilt, they turned to Sign Clemente.  del sol draws a sell-out crowd of visitors, and their Anaheim signs are vital to way finding and attracting guests.
The old sign face was faded and coming apart.  Not a good image for an inn serving the Magic Kingdom!   So they needed a renewed image for their Anaheim signs.

Anaheim Signs: What We Did

The monument sign- this one of many Anaheim signs- was in good condition.  It was the sign face that needed to be replaced.   The face to this one of Anaheim signs is shaped like an oven pan, or the lid of a shirt box.  It is made of heavy aluminum, so it is structurally tough and will never rust.  The face of this one of Anaheim signs is routed out and translucent acrylic is applied to the back.

Eye-Attracting Color and Anaheim Signs

The customer wanted to make sure that their Anaheim signs did not fade as quickly as the copy they had from their previous sign company.   We used a seven-year high performance vinyl.  It is translucent and shows the color nicely when lit.   The words “Anaheim Resort” are in a vinyl from 3-M called “Day/Night”.   It looks black during the day and white at night.  Nice!

Orange County Signs: Spotlight on Watermark Church

Monument: Orange County Signs

The Watermark Church in Costa Mesa just added theirs to the list of Sign Clemente’s Orange County signs.   This latest of Orange County signs was an existing and aging monument sign that badly needed refurbishing.   Being a leader in Orange County signs, the newly established Watermark Church contacted us.

Before

Doing the Job on Orange County Signs

The works on this of Orange County signs was to remove all the old letters, clean and sand and then paint some brighter and more attractive colors.  Then this of Orange County signs got new letters.

After!

Orange County Signs and Acrylic Letters

Sign Clemente then applied flat-cut acylic that was enameled to customer colors.  What you see is an attractive new addition to Orange County signs.    The customer loves their new monument sign and of course, we had it ready for their first service.

Not all of our Orange County signs are brand new.  Many times we make old signs new again, as we did here.

We have written quite a bit on foam signs vs. aluminum cabinets.  This one of Orange County signs happened to be an aluminum cabinet.  Aluminum provides a nice smooth finish as opposed to stucco, altough a stucco finish is much easier to paint.

Whether you want to refurbish what you already have or start anew, call Sign Clemente for all your Orange County Signs!

Vehicle Graphics Is Mobile Advertising

Check out one of Sign Clemente’s latest vehicle graphics installation!

Vehicle Graphics and Mobile Advertising

If you have a company van, box truck or any other vehicle, and you are not engaging in vehicle graphics, you are missing a golden advertising opportunity.  Vehicle graphics is virtually free adversting.  Think of the hundreds of pairs of eyes that your service and delivery vehicles pass ever day.   The more traffic, the more eyes see your message.

We at Sign Clemente have even prooven it to ourselves by having our own vehicle graphics generate phone calls that have turned into vehicle graphics, mobile advertising, business.

Three Main Ways to Advertise with Vehicle Graphics

One way to vehicle graphics is door magnets.   They can often look great, but there are a couple problems with this sort of vehicle graphics.  One is that they look temporary.   Often they look like the person with this sort of vehicle graphics is not proud of their business, and only wants their graphic showing part time.   The other is that they can blow off on the freeway.   Many car’s doors are no longer pure steel in that they are often alloys that contain non-ferous metals.  Magnets won’t stick well on many Volvos and Saturns for example.  Also, unless you dry the backs of the door magnets frequently, the moisture can close the clear coat on your paint finish.  Not Good!

Another way is vehicle wrap.  This is an attractive and compelling way to mobile advertising and vehicle graphics.  The wraps cover the entire vehicle and can really extend your message to all those eyes out there.  This is, however, and expensive way to go.  You will get a great return on your vehicle graphics, but plan on spending some cash up front.   You will need a graphic artist to design all the panels that will go on while paying particular attention to body hardware.  You don’t want a key phone number interrupted by a door handle!  Plan on about $3500 for the wrap itself, plus whatever time involved in the design process.   Sign Clemente can help you with this.

The most common way is cut graphics.  That is what you see in the video.  This is the most cost-effective way to go with vehicle graphics and mobile advertising.  We can include both digital prints and spot color. Plus, it takes a lot less time to install.  The vinyls we use are usually rated for at least five years for digital and seven for cut factory-colored vinyl.

Orange County Signs, Your Constant Sales Person

Who Does Your Selling When You Are Not There?

Orange County Signs Do Your Selling

Z Tejas Sign Marks the Spot

Unlike employees, Orange County Signs never have to go home, never get sick, go on strike, take breaks or have bad days.  Orange County Signs sell for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  They sell for you whether you are there or not.

No wonder, study after study show Orange County Signs as your best marketing investment.  One such investment was made by the popular restaurant at the South Coast Plaza, Z Tejas.  Their food is great, but they had a visibility problem in spite of their  existing Orange County Signs.

South Coast Plaza- Orange County Signs

They called Sign Clemente for help.  We created and installed two signs in Orange County– one on a pilaster facing the parking lot, and the other in the mall itself.  Even though they had two signs in Costa Mesa to start, one was up very high, and hard to see when close to the building; the other was by one of the doors, but small.

The first of Orange County Signs was the pilaster sign.  It is made of aluminum for durability, and stud mounted directly into the stone.  One can’t but see that one is approaching the restaurant as they walk from parking lot to mall.  It has been there several months so far, and is holding up perfectly.

The second of Orange County Signs is a hanging sign inside the mall.  The restaurant has another entrance from the inside of the mall, but customers could walk right past it unaware that Z Tejas was so close.

We constructed a sign using PVC and acrylic.  On the PVC we applied a patina that is exclusive to Sign Clemente to emphasize their southwestern ambiance.  All other elements of the sign were enameled.

Orange County Signs are Built to Last

This is a unique sign among Orange County signs, and we wanted to make sure that it was properly fixed in place.  The hanging bars are stainless steel, threaded on the sign end, while the PVC it attaches to is also threaded.  Epoxy was added to ensure strength.  The bases are also stainless, and clamps on to the shafts.  Those bases screw into studs in the ceiling making one of the mall’s most stable of Orange County Signs!

Orange County Signs – Importance of Signage

This is well worth watching.

Building Signs

In Orange County, Building Signs get your business noticed

Outdoor building signs are the number one way that new customers find businesses. The amazing thing about outdoor building signs is that they do their job and draw in customers even when you are not there; they are on-duty 365 days a year, rain or shine, and they always look good.

Given that the average outdoor sign lasts ten years, and rarely needs maintenance, it’s clear that  well designed, smartly-placed outdoor buidlign signs will repay their initial investment many times over. Good signage makes good sense. When building signs are modern, unique, and creative, they can’t help but attract new business.

Staples and Building Signs

Ever notice that the big-box stores like Staples and Ikea alway have such bigh building signs?  Consider how national brands and franchises are able to use  building signs to both draw the eye and remind customers of past visits. Branding and design are critical components of great signage, and we work closely with you to create the look and feel that’s perfect for your business. Or if you already have a well-designed and branded look, Sign Clemente can create the best sign for your space.

What goes into Building Signs?

One of the exciting aspects of outdoor building signs is the great variety in styles, materials, and lighting that we are able to utilize. We love to work with LED lights, which look fabulous and have the potential to be both halo lit and back lit, and thus really stand out sharply. Another great advantage to using LED is that it won’t fail the way that neon-lit signage can. Neon signs will generally begin to flicker or otherwise fail after a few years, but LEDs are typically expected to last at least 100,000 hours (which is more than 10 years). Not only that, on the rare occasion when an individual LED burns out, there are enough lights in any given letter that it’s not generally noticeable. While maintaining bulbs and keeping your lighted signs functioning is always important, you don’t want to have to be dealing with that sort of thing very often.

Whether we are creating signs for Irvine, San Clemente, or anywhere else in Orange County, a primary concern of ours is to design and build signs that last. We’ve all seen old, worn out signs, that have either been damaged by weather (which, in Southern California, would likely take decades), or have been destroyed by birds or other small animals. The latter happen with certain materials, such as foam, that are easy to peck at. We are able to prevent this by treating foam signs with a stucco finish around the edges. This is done by mixing paint and sand, and it gives letters a unique and artistic texture. It also protects against weather and wind far more than paint alone, and birds aren’t terribly interested in it!

We also often recommend using metal which, while more expensive than foam, has the benefit of lasting almost forever. Choosing the right type of metal is important; a sign with streaks of rust that run down the wall is unappealing, and customers tend to think that poorly maintained signs reflect a poorly maintained business. Using aluminum, rather than sheet metal, is one way that we insure good-looking metal  building signs that will stand the test of time. Paint adheres to aluminum especially well, which means that your signs won’t ever rust. And because we use automotive-grade paints, which are designed to deal with wind, rain, and heat, your signs will look beautiful for many years to come.

And now, read about Finding History In These Hills:  Building Signs Around Town; or, How to Make

If you looked up you could learn a lot about the building’s history. I would add that looking down also yields clues to the past. In Kerrville there are many signs of the past around town, not just old buildings, but real signs.
